SB CAN endorses: Measure V
SB CAN endorses: Measure V |
SANTA BARBARA-- Today, Santa Barbara County Action Network (SB CAN) announced its endorsement of Measure V. This 77.2 million dollar Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) improvement measure will be on the June 3 election ballot in the Santa Barbara City College District which spans the area from Carpinteria to Gaviota. Measure V is a wise investment, and will qualify SBCC for over $92 million in State matching funds, making local tax dollars go twice as far.
Santa Barbara City College provides affordable higher education for students seeking credit programs or technical/vocational training, and also maintains a vibrant adult education program in the community.
Measure V will allow SBCC to make essential improvements addressing critical health, safety and access issues, and to install energy efficient and water conservation systems throughout its campus.
SB CAN promotes transparency in the public process, and is, therefore, especially supportive because there will be annual public audits and an independent citizen oversight of all spending. All funds from this measure will be used locally to improve SBCC and will not go the State or to fund teacher or administrator salaries.
SB CAN is proud to fully support Measure V, on the ballot June 3.
Santa Barbara County Action Network is a countywide grassroots nonprofit dedicated to promoting social justice and preserving our community’s environmental and agricultural resources.
